The International Symposium on Pediatric Sleep Disorders was a resounding success in Mexico City! On December 7th, professionals from Mexico, Costa Rica, and across Latin America gathered at the Hotel Marquis Reforma to learn, share, and build community around pediatric sleep health.

Thanks to an outstanding panel of international experts, attendees gained practical tools, innovative ideas, and a much clearer understanding of how to approach pediatric sleep from a dental perspective. Our speakers brought diverse perspectives and a wealth of experience to the table:

  • Dr. Umakanth Katwa, MD (USA) – Pediatric pulmonologist and sleep specialist, Director of the Sleep Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital, and professor at Harvard Medical School.
  • Dr. Christine Hong, DMD, MS (USA) – Orthodontist and Director of the Orthodontic Residency Program at UCSF School of Dentistry; faculty member of UCSF’s OSA multidisciplinary group.
  • Dr. Rochelle McPherson, OM (Australia) – Director of the Australian Academy of Orofacial Myology, known for her holistic and patient-centered therapeutic approach.
  • Dr. Gabriel Cruz Zorrilla, MD (Mexico) – ENT specialist and sleep surgeon, former president of the Mexican Academy of Sleep Medicine.
  • Dr. Alma Luna Mata, BDS (Mexico) – Orthodontist and dentofacial orthopedist, guest professor at the Orthodontic Postgraduate Program of the Federico Gómez Children’s Hospital of Mexico.

The atmosphere at our Mexico City Symposium was truly spectacular. Over 10 hours of high-level learning, clinical cases, myofunctional exercises, and interdisciplinary perspectives left everyone inspired and ready to apply their knowledge from day one.

Beyond the academic content, the opportunities to connect with experts, the shared lunch, and the closing cocktail reminded us that learning is also about building bonds and community. Between laughter, networking, coffee, and meaningful conversations, it became clear that we are building something big! Thank you to everyone who made it possible. This is just the beginning. 🚀
