The Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and Orofacial Pain International Symposium in Cancun, Mexico, taking place from January 17-19, 2025, aims to gather leading experts and practitioners in the field to share the latest research, treatment techniques, and best practices. Gary D. Klasser

DMD

Dr. Klasser is Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at Louisiana State University, School of Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.

He completed his Certificate in Orofacial Pain training and graduated from the University of Kentucky, and  also completed a fellowship in Oral Medicine/Oral Oncology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

From 2005 – 2011, he was an Assistant Professor and Director of the Oral Medicine/Orofacial Pain clinic at the College of Dentistry in the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Klasser has published numerous peer reviewed scientific articles while contributing many chapters to various textbooks. He also serves as an associate editor or as an editorial reviewer for a number of journals. He is co-editor of several textbooks related to oral and facial pain and is a Past-President of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.

Isabel Moreno-Hay

DDS, PhD

Dr. Moreno-Hay is currently the Division Chief and Program Director of Orofacial Pain at the College of Dentistry, University of Kentucky.

She is an Associate Professor at the College of Dentistry, University of Kentucky, and obtained her dental degree from the University Complutense of Madrid, School of Dentistry (Spain).

Dr. Moreno-Hay graduated from the 2-year CODA approved program in Orofacial Pain at the University of Kentucky; became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, and Diplomate of the American Board Dental Sleep Medicine.

Fernando G. Exposto

DDS, MSc, PhD

Fernando G. Exposto, DDS, MSc, PhD, is a assistant professor and clinical instructor at the Department of Dentistry and Oral Health, Aarhus University in Denmark. He obtained his PhD in Health Sciences at the same university in 2019.

He graduated from dental school at ISCSEM in Lisbon (Portugal) in 2007. He completed a Master in Dental Sciences at Danube University (Austria) from 2007 to 2011. In 2015, he comepleted a 2 year program in Orofacial Pain at the University of Kentucky (USA).

From 2016 to 2018 he completed a Master’s in Headache Disorders at Copenhagen University (Denmark). Dr. Exposto is a Diplomate by the American Board of Orofacial Pain since 2016.

Dace Zvirbulis

MD

Dr. Zvirbulis currently serves as the Division Chief of the Headache and Facial Pain Division in the Department of Neurology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit MI.

She is a board-certified neurologist and headache medicine specialist, and completed her neurology residency at the Latvian Medical Academy in Riga, Latvia, followed by an additional neurology residency at Henry Ford Hospital.

Dr. Zvirbulus is also an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Wayne State University. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients with headache disorders, offering treatments such as outpatient infusions and office-based procedures including botulinum toxin injections and nerve blocks.

Mel Mupparapu

Dr. Mupparapu is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and is currently the professor and Director of Radiology at Penn Dental Medicine.

He obtained his medical imaging training from the Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia. He is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist and also is a past- director and President of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology.

He has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed dental literature and is a co-investigator in two large NIH-funded studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mupparapu also edited 4 volumes of the Dental Clinics of North America and several book chapters in various oral medicine and radiology textbooks.

Noshir R. Mehta

DMD, MS

He is the founding director of the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts University, and professor emeritus. He teaches at the school, and lectures nationally and internationally.

Dr. Mehta has a special interest in orofacial pain and dental sleep medicine.  He is a fellow of the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fouchard Academy.

He has received numerous awards from various dental organizations, and has published extensively in peer reviewed journals. Is editor of the sleep section for the Journal of Craniomandibular and Sleep Practice, and sits on the editorial board of several other international publications.

He is an esteemed professional with an illustrious 32-year career devoted to Orofacial Pain Management and TMJ Disorders. His academic journey began with attaining a D.D.S. and a D. Orth. from Damascus University, followed by a D.D.S. degree from the distinguished University of Detroit Mercy.

Dr. Kaspo furthered his academic progress by earning a training certificate in TMJ and Orofacial Pain Management from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Dr. Kaspo’s exceptional leadership skills were evident during his tenure as President of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain from 2017 to 2018, where he showcased his visionary approach and collaborative spirit

Leopoldo Correa

Dr. Correa is the founder and director of Orofacial Sleep Consortium – Global LLC.

He incorporated the teaching of Dental Sleep Medicine into Tufts University School of Dental Medicine undergraduate and graduate programs, and developed several international continuing education courses during his academic career at Tufts.

Dr. Correa has been invited as speaker on several continents, including North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He is Board certified by the ABDSM, and fellow of the International College of Dentists.
